LC Sciences has developed a solution to lower the cost, to simplify the workflow and to improve the performance of targeted sequencing. The VariantPro system’s power and elegance is made possible by a combination of several innovations (covered under pending patents). First, Relay-PCR™, in which a single PCR run in a single tube seamlessly combines two functionally separated reaction phases, namely target replication and library amplification without a primer removal step, results in a significantly simplified workflow. Next, Omega Primers™, engineered with a multi-segment design including two separate binding sections and a loop section, provides primer design freedoms to balance priming specificity and binding strength. Last, LC Sciences has developed new approaches to perform quantitative prediction of PCR primer performance and have incorporated the new approaches into software that performs multiplexing PCR primer design. This combination of technologies, effectively overcomes all issues inherent to currently available enrichment strategies and delivers high performance results and cost savings.
